My favorite fruit is apples. I eat them a lot. So you can only imagine how excited I get this time of year. It's apple season in Illinois. That means all the orchards are open throughout our state. We have lots of good ones here.

The cool thing about most of the orchards in Illinois is they're more than just a bunch of trees. The owners have turned them into real fall attractions with lots of fun things to do for the kids and the whole family.

I have plenty of great memories of going to apple orchards as a child. I have lots more of taking my daughter when she was little. We had such a good time. She looked forward to it every year. Let's be honest, we still do.
