Why Was Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri’s Private Jet in Evansville?

The first Saturday in May means different things to different people. If you are from the Southern Indiana, or Louisville, Kentucky area it means it's time for The Kentucky Derby. You might love the horse racing, the bets, the celebrities or the hats, or even the treasured drink - The Mint Julip.

The Kentucky Derby Brings the Celebrities

There are plenty of fancy parties during the Derby weekend and those bring out the celebrities. One that I always watch for is Guy Fieri. He has a restaurant at 4th Street Live in Downtown Louisville, and several chef friends in the Louisville area.

It's Me, I'm The Number 1 Guy Fieri Fan

I had the opportunity to meet The Mayor of Flavortown in Pigeon Forge a couple of years ago. I've been a fan since he won The Next Food Network Star back in 2006. Yep, I'm the real deal fan. I have Guy's autograph tattooed on my arm. So, when I found out that his personal jet was in my city - Yes, Evansville, Indiana - I had to investigate.

What is Knuckle Sandwich?

Knuckle Sandwich is one of Guy Fierii's brands. That is the cool skull star logo on my shirt (Pictured above). This beautiful logo graces the wing of Guy's private jet. Obviously, I needed a pic with this logoed jet, while wearing one of my many Guy Fieri-branded shirts.

Why Was Guy Fieri in Evansville, IN?

Now, why was Guy's plane here in Southern Indiana for several days? He and his son Hunter covered the Derby in part for People magazine. Then, they paid a visit to his Downtown restaurant, ate some delicious food, and pumped up the team. He left Monday, around mid-morning. From there he was off to Ohio for a bottle signing. Bottle of what? Santo Tequila! That is the brand that Guy and Sammy Hagar have together.
