After seeing a 'going out of business' ad for Elizabeth's, the Owensboro's iconic bridal shop located in a beautiful historic home on Frederica St., I scoured the internet to find out if it was, in fact, true. And, unfortunately, in June the shop confirmed its closing on their website.

After 33 years in business, the owners of Elizabeth’s Weddings & Formal Wear are retiring and will be closing the iconic bridal shop in Owensboro. Mike and Maria Overton purchased the store in the 1980's with the intent to own it for only five years while their daughter, Kathleen, was in school. But, as they started working with ladies to find their special wedding or prom gowns, they became part of the memory making process and 5 years turned into 30 years. Elizabeth’s has served thousands of brides throughout the years.

'We are grateful to all of the customers and employees who were part of our business. We hope they had as much joy being part of our bridal journey, as we had helping them prepare for their special day.'

The website goes on to ask that if you purchased a gown from the shop in the past to  please send a photo and your story, date and place of your special day to info@elizabethsweddings.com. All stock is 60% off. Call 270-684-0312 for an appointment.
