2009 Ice Storm

Looking back 15 years at the ice storm that crippled Kentucky and nine other states. The death toll reached 65 as a result of the storm.

The National Weather Service has changed our Winter Storm Warning to an Ice Storm Warning. Parts of the tristate could see significant ice accumulations.

The National Weather Service is predicting a double dose of winter in the Owensboro-Evansville area. Minor ice accumulations and bitter cold temps are possible.

When I tell people about the ice storm, which took place this week date for date five years ago, I tell them it was unlike anything I've ever experienced before or since. I mean I can remember when I was in third grade and we missed so much school due to snow, we had Saturdays as make-up days. Snow is fun, but ice? Not so much.
