Here at WBKR, we've partnered with Blue Star Restoration to bring you WBKR's Hero of the Month. This month we are honoring the women of Hello Owensboro as our Hero of the Month!

Amanda is the epitome of the Field of Dreams mantra "If you build it, they will come." She fully understands the importance of community and has the knack for nurturing it where it already exists and constructing it where it doesn't. Two prime examples- the Color Blast 5K, which at launch was the single biggest 5K event in the history of Owensboro, and Lip Sync Battle, which, in two short years, has grown into one of our city's most popular, uproarious and diverse community events.

Last year, thousands of people turned out at Moreland Park for the Color Blast.  And I guarantee you that many of them plan to come back again Saturday, March 21st for the 2015 event!  Registrations for it are underway now and here's how you can get involved and be a part of one of Owensboro's most exciting and "colorful" 5K's!

The Owensboro Color Blast 5K is in the books.  Over 3,000 people turned out to support six different local agencies supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities.  As usual, the day was amazing.  There were color blasts along the race route.  There was a HUGE after-party with color flying through the air and onto our clothes.  And there were very emotional and moving performances
