Ah, the sights, the sounds, the smells...the smells...the smells. Oh, sorry. Got lost in a fog of hickory smoke for a moment, there. The 2012 International Barbeque Festival is this weekend. And the teams are gearin' up.

Owensboro's favorite time of the year is this week. The International Barbecue Festival in downtown Owensboro. 10 - 15,000 people will occupy the city. You know, for the last three years all the construction downtown keeps the BBQ Fest folks hoppin' to find where to place everyone. It is hard to believe it's time for Owensboro's famous International Barbecue Festival. A week from Friday it opens and all the great barbecue aromas and thick, blinding smoke will waft through downtown. WBKR will be broadcasting from the event on both days. My favorite year was 2009. I was joined on the air by Kizzy and on the streets by lovely Mrs. Moon.

Chad was out at the International BBQ Festival taking in the sights and sampling some food. Chad stops by the Precious Blood BBQ Cooking Team's booth and the Little Ones Mobile Kitchen for a sampling of their Deep Fried Ding Dongs!

In this second installment of Chad's tour of the International BBQ Festival,  Chad stopped by the Daymar College area for a massage then stopped by to see Solveda, one of his friends to try on one her custom dog collars then stopped Bee Bops!

I look forward to this every year and its finally here!!  This weekend in downtown Owensboro it's the International Bar-B-Q Festival with great live entertainment, carnival rides the kids will love, great food, souvenirs, a classic car show, arts & crafts and so much more!  ...

Oh, we're gettin' closer and closer. I can already smell mutton off the pit right now. Yes, I'm delirious. The International Barbecue Festival is set to begin tomorrow. And you know what that means? Well, yeah, good food, it means that. But it also means streets will be closed...

It's almost Bar-B-Q Festival time in downtown Owensboro!!  It's one of the few times of the year someone can ask, "What's that smell?" and you don't mind to tell them!  LOL!  The International Bar-B-Q Festival has been around since way back in 1979.  Not only is it tradition in Owensboro, but it essentially put Owensboro on the map.  See, Memphis can claim Bar-B-Q.  Uh . . . whatever!
