The American Red Cross has big plans for their annual "Heroes" luncheon which is coming up on Friday, June 20th at the National Guard Armory here in Owensboro.  They plan to honor, posthumously, Neil Bradley and Joe Lowe, for their dedication and long list of contributions to the Red Cross.

Tomorrow we begin the two days of the year all of us consider among the most important of the year. We all -- you and WBKR -- raise funds to help save the lives of children. The 76th annual Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is here!  Dave Spencer and I are once again thrilled to be calling the parade live for Time Warner Cable channel 8.  Dave and I are joined by our good friend, Jane Head, in the broadcast booth and WBKR's Barb Birgy is reporting from the sidelines as the parade rolls up 2nd Street downtown!

The holiday season is going to be difficult time for Joe Lowe's family.  It's going to be difficult for his radio family as well.  Holidays are always trying when they arrive shortly after losing someone.  But, this Christmas season, the memory of our friend Joe Lowe is going to be alive and well thanks to a big announcement from the Owensboro-Daviess Christmas Parade Association.  They have named

Our good friend and work colleague Joe Lowe was recently diagnosed with stage-4 cancer and has undergone chemotherapy and other treatments. The bills are piling up and we want to do our part to help out our friend as he has helped us and many others throughout his broadcast career. Ever since we learned the news that Joe Lowe has cancer, the entire community has come together to do whatever it can to help. Everything from lifting Joe's spirits with cards or by signing the scrapbook we have in the lobby to organizing benefits as a form of paying tribute, everyone has chipped in.

He's an institution. There's no other way you can describe Joe Lowe, who's been a staple air personality in Owensboro radio for four decades. In addition to being a staple on-air, Joe is a mover and shaker off the air as well. He's involved with countless charities and civic organizations and is always ready and willing to roll up his sleeves and help. Well, now . . . as fate would have it . .
