Lane Goodwin touched hundreds of thousands of lives in his short time with us. His courageous battle with the monster that is cancer will never be forgotten and his light will shine on forever. After his passing, his family released this statement:

The family of Lane Goodwin, via Facebook, requested that in lieu of flowers being sent to the funeral services, for those wishing to donate, do so in terms of giftcards from Target, Walmart, ToysRUs or Dollar General. As many know by now, Lane Goodwin, the young man who had been battling Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma Stage IV – a rare and very aggressive form of childhood cancer - passed away. Today, his parents issued a statement to the community and all those who had participated in the Thumbs Up for Lane campaign.

Lane Goodwin - the McLean County, Kentucky, boy who bravely fought a long battle against a rare childhood form of cancer has sadly lost his battle with cancer at 7:53 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

As the Thumbs Up for Lane Goodwin campaign continues to circle the globe, more and more news outfits around the country are picking up the story.

This event deserves a big THUMBS UP!  There is a Community Prayer Vigil tonight for Lane Goodwin, who, over the past few weeks, has received an outpouring of support from celebrities, country music stars and people all over the world.  And, tonight, here in Owensboro, you are invited to rally behind him as well...

There are no words to describe just how overwhelming the response to the Thumbs Up for Lane Goodwin campaign has been over the last few weeks. To bring you up to speed, Lane is 13 years old and was diagnosed with Stage IV alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.

Every time I log into facebook, I immediately check the Prayers For Lane Goodwin page. This family has touched so many hearts and mine is one of those affected by their story. "Thumbs Up For Lane" has really taken over the country music scene, as well as several NASCAR drivers, actors, local/regional celebrities and so many others...

I first heard of the Prayers for Lane Goodwin Facebook page late last week and read with great interest and sadness of Lane's battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma stage IV. That's nothing you ever want to read about a child.
