A little over a week ago, the WBKR family lost one of our own. Former Program Director, Moon Mullins, passed away after complications from a recent ssrgery Chad and Erin shared their memories of Moon with you all last week, I fully intended to as well, but frankly, I couldn't find the words...

It's time for another early #ThrowbackThursday, this time featuring my friend and my former boss, the late great Moon Mullins.

I have some sad news to share this afternoon.  Moon Mullins, my former morning show cohost here at WBKR, has passed away.

Joe Lowe was a guy both Kirk Kirkpatrick and I admired. Joe and I talked about retirement on several occasions. And, on the occasion of my retirement this week I'd like to dedicate this interview to Joe's memory and our friendship. Kirk spoke with me in the WOMI studio, soon to be renamed in Joe's honor, and I'd like you to hear it if you please.

As my retirement date looms this Wednesday, I thought it might be of interest to those of you that are, like Theresa Rowe, Shaped By Faith. And, you might be surprised to know that naughty Moon is, too. So, Theresa interview me for her WOMI Radio Show and we have included those interview segments here for you to hear if you so desire.

Friday and Saturday is Owensboro's famous International Barbecue Festival. And, this year is even better. The  Riverfront is finished. Smothers Park and the new Owensboro Convention Center and Hampton Inn will be showcased to the max. Great barbecue aromas and thick, blinding smoke will waft through downtown. And, we will be there. People ask me from time to time, "Moon, what's your favorite song". My response has been for at least 40 years, Gordon Lightfoot's "The Last Time I Saw Her". Yesterday, Gordon's 75th birthday, seems an appropriate time for me to share this with you.

Saturday night I met Kimberly Perry (and her brothers, too) backstage at the Ford Center. She was so nice and sweet and so petite! Neil and Reid were very pleasant as well. My NASCAR writin' buddy Blake Smith went with me. Now, I had had visions of Blake taking a picture of me with Kimberly using my camera or phone. The Band Perry had other plans...
