Okay, so it may be awhile before we see a significant snow event. I'm talking a foot or more; in the meantime, here's a loud way to get snow off your car. It's pretty clever!

This morning, I was reminded of what the weather was like twelve years ago right before Christmas, it was brutal. We rarely see a white Christmas around these parts, but in 2004, holiday travel was at a snail's pace or a standstill. Oh, what a ride!

Whenever I used to see the forecast for snow, all I had to listen for was the phone ringing at around 5 or 6 in the morning at my house to let my Dad know if school was either called off or delayed. We now live in the age where school districts get creative with their "one-calls" and the Eminence School district has taken it to whole new level. Watch "Making a Snow Day"! Read M

So here we are, the first big snow of 2016 and even though the kids are typically the most excited, one teacher from Tennessee, where they got ice and snow overnight, sings this Adele parody, "Snow", from her fellow educators' point of view.

All right, since I showed you the snowy stairs, and since we got all that sleet and freezing rain after my first video, I now present what conditions have transpired since then. A couple of notes, at one point I say I'm going to "turn the camera off", uh, sorry. It was about 5 degrees when I shot this, and, most important, I didn't fall. Let's watch.
