Here at WBKR, 'tis the season for Christmas Wish. 2023 marks our charity's 47th anniversary season of making Christmas wishes come true for families in need here in western Kentucky and southern Indiana. Our mission, as it has been since the 70s, is simple- to make sure that "every child in the Tristate gets a visit from Santa on Christmas."

We're anticipating one of our busiest years ever and we've been fielding calls for the last month or so. People have been asking, since late September really, when letter submissions will start for the 2023 season. Well, the time is now.

Last year was our 46th season in operation and it was a record-breaking success. Christmas Wish served over 8,000 children from over 1,900 families here in the Tristate area and we're poised to do it again this year.

We have been rounding up our devoted legion of elves who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work for Santa.

If you're familiar with Christmas Wish, you know we do our very best to make sure children have toys under their trees for Christmas. This is all made possible by donations and an incredible army of volunteers from here in the community. And, of course, Christmas Wish is driven by WBKR midday personality, Barb Birgy, who serves as our Executive Director.

The 2023 Christmas Wish office will be in the same location as last year- in the former Shoe Stop location at Towne Square North- sandwiched between Buffalo Wild Wings and Big Lots.

That office will celebrate its grand opening to the public on Monday, December 4th and our volunteers will spend three weeks filling as many Christmas Wish letters as we can.

There is one change this year. In the past couple of years, we have given families the option of requesting food. Because we have determined that there are so many other agencies in the area better equipped to handle that need, we have chosen to focus our efforts and let Santa do what he does best- provide Christmas presents to the kids in our community who really need them.

If you know a family with a 2023 Christmas Wish, you can let us know all about them here!
