Over the weekend, the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art held a sneak preview gala to unveil its 46th Annual Holiday Forest Festival of Trees. My friend Debbie Zuerner was on hand to take part and get in the holiday spirit with the museum's stunning collection of Christmas trees. One of trees in this year's exhibit pays tribute to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Here's the Kentucky tree!

Debbie absolutely loved the tree, which was decorated by the Herb Society.  She said, "It's incredible. I commented to several people that you could spend hours looking at it."

I asked Debbie if there were particular "ornaments" on the tree that jumped out at her and stuck in her memory. She answered, "They had orange slices hanging on the tree with cloves and that immediately took me back to my mom teaching me around Christmas how to stick cloves in oranges and how good that smelled."  Debbie admits that there were several features of the Kentucky tree that had that same effect. 'I would see something that would spark a memory about somewhere I had been or something I had done."

In addition to the Kentucky tree, the museum is loaded up with other gorgeously decorated trees.

Debbie says, "All the trees are stunning. Some will take you back and make you feel like you are sitting in a room hundreds of years ago admiring the beauty of the trees."

If you'd like to experience the 46th Annual Holiday Forest Festival of Trees and admire their beauty in person, you can do so for FREE.  The galleries are open Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.
