Authorities Investing Shooting at W 8th St and Maple St in Owensboro

The Owensboro Police Department are investigating a shooting last night in the 1000 block of W. 8th Street.

On Monday, January 23, 2017 at approximately 11:40 p.m. the Owensboro Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of W. 8th Street.
The investigation has revealed that victim, Gunnar S. Tapp, 34, had been in the
area of the railroad tracks at W. 8th Street and Maple Street when he was
approached by a male person of interest. That person attempted to rob Tapp
and fired three shots from a handgun which struck Tapp in the right leg.

Gunnar Tapp was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional
Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. This investigation is ongoing.
