The City of Owensboro is hosting a "Healthy at Home" fireworks celebration Friday, July 3rd, at multiple locations across town.

Complying with state guidelines regarding safe social distancing, the city will launch fireworks from eight different locations instead of just on the river (although that will be a site).

This sensational idea is sure to yield an amazing night sky this Friday.

But if you have the previous schedule of locations saved, you'll need to update as the city has changed one of the launch sites.

Thompson-Berry Park, on Carter Road, was one of the locations originally chosen. But its proximity to the Owensboro Humane Society would have likely meant a great deal of stress and anxiety for the animals.

So, according to a news release from the city, the new eighth location will be Jack C. Fisher Park on West Fifth Street Road.

The other seven locations are Centre Court on Bittel Road, the Owensboro Sportscenter/Moreland Park, Southern Little League, the grounds of the former Owensboro Health hospital, the former GE Plant, and the Ohio River.

The fireworks will begin at 9:15 and will be accompanied by an official patriotic soundtrack which you can hear on 92.5 WBKR or via the stream on the WBKR app. The fireworks will be choreographed with the music.

Additionally, the Owensboro Country Club will synchronize its annual display with the city's.

All eight launch sites will be secured and closed to the public.
