We all play a part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Stay home, avoid crowds, wash your hands, and practice physical social distancing – staying at least 6 feet away from others. We have to stick with this strategy. We can’t let our guard down.” said Clay Horton, Public Health Director. “We expect to see more new cases. It is crucial we do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. The health department frequently receives the question about how many COVID-19 tests have been performed locally.

"We know it is not as many as we need. However it is extremely difficult to get accurate data about this. While positive results are required to be reported to the health department by the health care provider and the laboratories, the local health department does not typically receive the negative result reports. We are continuing to work with the state health department to find solutions to these reporting challenges and more importantly ways to support additional testing capacity here locally,” Clay Horton, Public Health Director added.

The cases being reported from the Green River District Health Department have been investigated and confirmed locally. These cases are then reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
