Raise your stein and mark your calendar. The City of Madisonville is gearing up for the second annual Oktoberfest, which is coming up on Saturday, September 21st from 4:30pm to 10pm.

Oktoberfest is a family-friendly event and will feature live music, amazing food, fun activities for the entire family, and, of course, a vast and tasty selection of local brews.

HOW MANY BREWERIES ARE PARTICIPATING?

Five local western Kentucky breweries are taking part in Oktoberfest and will be offering their own craft beers. You'll be able to sample a "wide variety of brews from traditional German-style lagers to innovative, locally crafted ales."

The participating breweries are:

BREW BRIDGE (Owensboro)

HOPKINSVILLE BREWING COMPANY (Hopkinsville)

HENDERSON BREWING COMPANY (Henderson)

TRADEWATER BREWING COMPANY (Madisonville)

THE PUB ON SECOND (Owensboro)

Though Oktoberfest is an outdoor event, it's proudly sponsored by The Crowded House, which will again be serving up its popular pretzels and classic bratwursts. Other local businesses, like the Big City Market and Coffee Bar will be offering a full German-themed menu.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Admission to Madisonville Oktoberfest is FREE, and guests are able to purchase food, beverages, and merchandise from a variety of vendors on site. Because it's a craft beer festival, there will be stations set up around the premises for I.D. verification. Attendees MUST have a wristband to purchase beer.  Plus, all alcoholic beverages must stay in the specifically-marked areas of the festival.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
