Who Wants a Deviled Egg Co. Location Here in Kentucky?
I was scrolling through Facebook a couple of days ago and noticed that my friend Lori Champion shared a video about deviled eggs. Now, the folks in my friend group are well aware that I have a major (i.e. crippling) aversion to deviled eggs. I think they are beyond nasty. I'll spare you the details, but one of the worst experiences of my life involved a community theatre cast party, a platter of deviled eggs, and a poorly ventilated restroom. You do the math.
My personal trauma aside, I will concede that I am in the minority here, which is why a blossoming restaurant chain- that features 20 varieties of gourmet deviled eggs- is slowly starting to spread across the country.
Deviled Egg Co. is the culinary creation of Raechel Van Buskirk, who grew up, like many of us, having deviled eggs primarily on special occasions and holidays. She recently told KMTV 3 News that "Everyone loves them and no one wants to make them." So, she decided to make them for us.
But Raechel's menu doesn't just featured the traditional deviled egg. It features endlessly creative variations on the theme. Here are just a few of the flavors that jumped out at me from the Deviled Egg Co. menu page- BLTE Deviled Eggs, Cheeseburger Deviled Eggs, Chicken & a Pickle Deviled Eggs, Chicken & Waffles, Chicken Caesar Salad Deviled Eggs (Raechel's personal favorite), Jalapeno Popper Deviled Eggs, and Walking Taco Deviled Eggs. But there are a bunch more varieties. These barely crack the surface of the egg.
As of now, Deviled Egg Co. has locations in Denison, Texas, McKinney, Texas, and Omaha, Nebraska, which is Raechel's hometown. While there's not a location here in Kentucky (yet), I know a legion of Kentuckians who would love it.Y'all want to start a petition?
But here's some good news for you. Until the Deviled Egg Co. expands into the Commonwealth, you have this option. If you want to try some, the Deviled Egg Co. will ship to you.
You can order from their website.
