This Saturday, Diamond Lake Campground and Resort, just outside Owensboro, is hosting one of its more popular annual events.  Yes!  The Cardboard Boat Races are back.

The announcement was shared on Facebook yesterday!

Now, you may recall the rather ill-fated attempt Angel and I made last year.  For one of our Wacky Wednesday episodes, we decided to "build" a cardboard boat, take it out to Diamond Lake, throw it in the pond and try to row it.  Well, it went about as well as you would expect.

In case you missed the footage of that disaster, take a look.

As you can see, I rather gracefully and successfully climbed into the boat with my makeshift oar in hand.  Torpedo Angel derailed our plans to sail the ocean blue when she thrust the full power and impact of her body weight into the side of the ship like she was in the movie The Hunt for Red October.

Needless to say, the SS Changel sank like a freaking boulder.  See what I mean?

And the next photo (which I will label "Exhibit B") which illustrate how little Kate Winslet abandoned ship completely and left little Leo DiCaprio to fend for himself and try to keep the boat afloat all by himself. It didn't work.

And can we get a timeout on the inflatable that Angel is carting around????

Now, if you'd like to give the Cardboard Boat Races a try, here's a complete rules for Saturday's event at Diamond Lake.  You can't possibly do worse than we did.

I would like to point out that one of those rules specifically says that "cardboard cannot be sealed, with any paint, sealants, or varnish."  Angel and I didn't see that rule and tried to seal the seams of our boat with Flex Seal.  It still didn't work.  She sank like the Lusitania.

Hopefully, you'll have better luck this weekend at Diamond Lake.
