Duck #11 Wins the WBKR Rubber Duck Regatta at Diamond Lake [Gallery]

Well, we released the Quacken!  Saturday, we gathered at Diamond Lake Campground and Resort for the grand finale of our first ever Rubber Duck Regatta.  During the month of March, we qualified 92 potentially "lucky duckies" on air and through the WBKR app.  Yesterday, those ducks were launched into Diamond Lake and, with a steady breeze blowing behind their tails, they sailed across the lake toward the finish line.

Here are some photo highlights from the event, including the big winners and what the lucky ducks won!

As you can see, the event was hilarious and nerve-racking at the same time.  All morning long we closely monitored the speed and direction of the wind.  Luckily, by race time, the direction of the wind had settled in and was blowing, as expected, in a south southwest direction between 6 to 13 mph.

Duck #75 basically led the entire race on the inside lane, but was passed right at the finish line by the ducks who were blown to the outside by the breeze.
