Enhanced Severe Weather Threat for Veteran’s Day [Forecast]

Veteran's Day is shaping up to be a potentially stormy one.  The National Weather Service has placed the tristate under an "enhanced" severe weather threat.  Here's what that means and what we can expect.

Last week, the tristate was under a "marginal" risk of severe weather.  The threat ladder looks like this . . .Marginal-Slight-Enhanced-Moderate.  So, with an enhanced risk in place, we could see major winds and even isolated tornadoes on Wednesday and Wednesday night.  Here's what our friends in Paducah are predicting.

WEDNESDAY IS VETERANS DAY AND IT IS SETTING UP TO BE A WINDY DAY. SOUTH WINDS WILL RAMP UP CLOSE TO 20 MPH DURING THE DAYTIME...AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT. WIND GUSTS MAY RUN 30 TO 40 MPH AT TIMES.

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY DURING THE AFTERNOON IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...AND DURING THE EVENING IN EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD BE SEVERE...WITH DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND POSSIBLY EVEN ISOLATED...BRIEF TORNADOES. THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER NOW HIGHLIGHTS THE ENTIRE REGION IN AN ENHANCED SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.
