Kentucky Horror Fans, Do You Dare Try to Escape Blair Witch in Las Vegas?

The Blair Witch Project was released to theatres way back in 1999. I will never forget the day we went to see it.  Kevin, a friend of ours and I drove over to Showplace Cinemas East in Evansville to watch it. About 55 minutes into the movie, I started to feel really, really sick. I thought the premise of the movie was cool and I was enjoying watching Heather, Josh and Michael get lost deeper and deeper in the woods and fall into the Blair Witch's trap, but I couldn't handle the camera work.  AT ALL.  At the time, I didn't realize I was getting motion sickness as I watched, but holy crap.  With about twenty minutes left in the movie, I was in major trouble. I needed out.  Quickly.  I had to escape that room.

Oddly enough, the camera work had made me so sick that I needed to vomit.  So, I screamed "MOVE" to Kevin and Jenny, launched out of my seat, down the stairs and up the hallway to the lobby.  The only problem? I didn't make it to the lobby or the men's room.  Nope!  I had to lean over into the trash can and start power-hurling inside the theatre.  And, let me tell you.  The sound of spew hitting 32-ounce cardboard cups is very percussive and the echoes of my vomit hitting those empty cups and popcorn containers rang throughout the movie.  I could hear fellow Blair Witchers whispering, "I hear someone vomiting."

I had to finish watching the movie from the hallway and I couldn't look at it head on.  But, I still loved it.  And, fun fact! One of the producers of the film (and you may already know this) is Gregg Hale, who's from Henderson, KY. Gregg went to Western Kentucky University and then served in the U.S. Army.  After working in Los Angeles on television shows, he ended up producing The Blair Witch Project.  The rest is cinematic history.  The movie cost less than a half million dollars to make.  It grossed nearly $250 million worldwide and STILL has a legion of fans who consider it one of the scariest movies ever made.

Now, The Blair Witch Project is the inspiration behind a new escape room experience in Las Vegas.  In fact, I was fed a sponsored ad about it on my Facebook page a couple of days ago.  So, I looked it up, read about it and now I want to go.  As Faith Hill says, "Hey, Baby! Let's go to Vegas!"

According to the official website for Escape Blair Witch, the attraction is an immersive, multi-room escape experience that brings to life Lionsgate’s iconic blockbuster film franchise, Blair Witch. Players begin their journey at the Burkittsville Ranger’s Station, nestled in the Black Hills Forest, on a hunt for information into the disappearance of a few local college students.

Escape Blair Witch is open Wednesdays and Thursdays 5pm-11pm, Fridays from 5pm to Midnight,  Saturdays from 4pm-Midnight and Sundays from 4pm-11pm.  The attraction is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
