Foundation for DCPS Hosting Battle of the Backpacks Fundraiser

The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools is gearing up for an exciting new fundraiser.  It's called Battle of the Backpacks and the battle gets underway Saturday, September 7th at O.Z. Tyler Distillery.

The inaugural Battle of the Backpacks is proudly presented by Owensboro Health and is set for 6:00 p.m. on the 7th.  The event has two purposes: 1) to take attendees "back to school" with some really fun school-themed activities and games and 2) to literally and figuratively fill backpacks that benefit kids throughout the Daviess County Public School System.

That sense of "back to school" is going to be evident even before you make into the event.  A school bus will pick up attendees in the O Z Tyler parking lot and transport them to the entrance!  Greeting you will be the Apollo Eagle and DCHS Panther mascots.

Inside the event guests will compete in variety of games/contests like the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee and "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grade Teacher?"  Teams will be able to "buy in" (donate) to play.

Plus, we'll be serving up memories from the school cafeteria as well.  Chef Matt Weafer has designed a school-themed menu that features Square Pizza with Corn and Spaghetti with Salad.

And Dream Copy Photography will be on hand taking "school photos" on classic backgrounds.

I am excited about the event and have agreed to serve as the emcee and game show host!  I have been involved with a variety of Foundation events and firmly support their efforts to alleviate burdens to educate for any student facing them and providing educational enhancements for all students in the system.
