Now, let me preface this story with this. There is no way I would ever put skates on my own feet again. The first time I put roller skates on, I nearly shattered my left arm.  And, adding insult to an injury that clearly scarred me for life, I hadn't even made it to the rink yet when I fell. The wheels went crazy as soon as I stood up from the bench. vI slipped, flew up into the air like a human whoopie cushion and then fell onto the carpeted floor in a hot, crying mess of a heap of embarrassment and pain. Lesson learned.  Roller skates don't go on these feet.

I am only marginally more graceful on ice skates. I haven't been ice skating in ages and the last time I went, I had to shove kids away from the big sawhorse, so I could use it to help motor my clumsy behind around the rink.

THE EDGE ICE CENTER HALLOWEEN GLOW SKATE DETAILS

Now, all that said, Owensboro Parks and Recreation has come up with a fun way to celebrate Halloween for all you folks who actually CAN ice skate! They're hosting a Halloween Glow Skate Party. Here's the official announcement from Facebook:

COME AND GET SCARED AT THE EDGE ICE CENTER HALLOWEEN GLOW SKATE!
Wear your costume, live DJ, and enter the haunted locker rooms if you DARE!
October 22
7:30-10 p.m.
$10 per person
Call 270-687-8720 for more information

In addition to the Glow Skate Party, Edge is turning the locker rooms at the facility into HAUNTED locker rooms! Plus, you're encouraged to wear costumes to the big event. I personally would wear one of those inflatable Sumo wrestling outfits so I wouldn't break every bone in my body when I attempted by double axel. LOL!

The event is set for Friday, October 22nd from 7:30pm to 10pm. Admission is just $10 per person.
