Yesterday was a special day here in Owensboro as the Daviess County Sheriff's Office and others helped send off 7 local members of the World War II armed services to Washington D.C.

They spent last night in Louisville and will take off this morning for the capitol where they will unite with other veterans from WWII. They will all be honored at the World War II Memorial.  It's all part of the Honor Flight program.

These gentlemen are:  Army Corporal James Beller, Electrician Mate Richard Dyche, Seaman 1st Class Joseph Logsdon, Army Corporal Clarence Redfern, Army (Air Corps) Captain Raymon Schureck, Air Force Lt. Coy Shown and Bill Dalquist.

Among those supporting the effort are The Bluegrass chapter of Honor Flight, Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Owensboro Rotary Club, Veterans Amvets Post 119, Post 75, Post 696, American Legion post 9, Marine Corps League Post 804, River Metals Recycling and Deer Park Elementary school.

 

 

 

If you'd like to honor them head to the Sportscenter  around 11am tomorrow. That's the approximate time they'll be back.
