So many of us grew up watching the Owensboro Christmas Parade wind its way down Frederica from 11th Street and then down 3rd to Daviess and then down 2nd. Lord, I'm worn out just thinking about it.

That route, despite the MANY RUMORS you may have heard, is STILL part of the past.

I got a text from Jane Head, the parade director, telling me that rumors are flying that the parade is going back to Frederica.

It is not.

And after that description I wrote at the top, I'm glad. I never realized how circuitous the parade was until I looked at that.

All those difficult turns for floats are staying a part of the past.

On November 17th, the parade will line up at 2nd and Pearl Streets and will begin at 4:30PM, as usual.

This year's theme, by the way, is "Our Christmas Wish."

The Owensboro/Daviess County Christmas Parade is where Kentucky starts Christmas.

And this year, it "starts" where it did last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and...
