I came across one of my nephew's old Guinness Books of World Records the other day. He used to get them every year for Christmas. He loved 'em. And he'll still spout factoids from them from time to time.

I used to read them, too.

All the records.

Even the gross ones like longest fingernails or ear hair.

In all that time I never wondered about, let alone looked up, the records that are held that come from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Shame on me.

But I've corrected that.

I have learned that the world's largest archery tournament occurred at the Kentucky State Fair in 2013.

I have learned that the world's largest water balloon fight (oh man, why didn't they call me?!?) was held at the University of Kentucky in 2011.

I also found out that the largest-ever game of Secret Santa (oh man, why didn't they call me?!?) took place at Lexington Catholic High School in 2013.

Way to rock out the records, Lexington!

These are really cool. I must pay closer attention.

In fact, I think I'll go now and tried to set the record for closest attention paid.

Later.
