There’s a Cool Fireworks & Lights Show in Downtown Owensboro This Weekend
Last week, the City of Owensboro hosted the Blue Angels for the 2021 Owensboro Air Show. An estimated 60,000 visited the riverfront to enjoy two days of action in the sky. It was incredible, by the way, and sported the biggest lineup in Owensboro Air Show history.
This weekend, for the first time in roughly 40 years, we're hosting hydroplane racing with HydroFair downtown on the Ohio River. The action gets underway Friday with testing. Qualifications run Saturday and the first part of Sunday, with the championship races scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
And, now, we're getting word that the schedule of events for the weekend just got even bigger and, well, brighter!
Visit Owensboro just announced a new event called Lights on the Ohio! It's set for 8:15pm, Saturday, August 21st and promises an exciting fireworks and lights show against the backdrop of Owensboro's famous Blue Bridge.
Take a look at the sneak peek shared on social media yesterday!
Lights on the Ohio is made possible by The City of Owensboro and Daviess County Fiscal Court in conjunction with American Hydroplane Events.
