When me and my fellow radio staff were at Studio Slant the other night for our holiday party, we painted Christmas trees, and we could paint them however we wanted. Mine was a little unusual.

I broke tradition, well, I wasn't the only one, and I painted a lime green tree. I attempted some garland and ornaments. Painting was very relaxing. I loved we got the opportunity to do it. I kept telling my co-workers about my Dad and how he was a little more artsy than me. Here's two of his paintings.

He painted this not long after we moved to Hartford. We had this large playroom, which eventually became my room after my sister came along, so he had enough space to set up his easel and his paints and create. This is his grandparents' house in Centertown. A huge tobacco field separated his house from Mamaw and Papaw Brown's. I love the details, the trees, the swing on the porch, the door and brick colors, all real. Now his other original, well...

Ha! No, I love this one too. I think he said he painted Mr. Horse either during his senior year of high school or not long after he graduated. It might have even been a graded assignment. It looks like an "A" to me.
