Tornado and Thunderstorm Warnings, High Winds and Rain. The Storm that moved through the tri-state had it all. We covered before and after the storm for you! We also had the chance to talk with a couple homeowners, that received damage to their homes.

I had the chance to film the storms as they rolled into the Owensboro area (footage below) and the winds were unbelievable. The clouds were ominous and residents were nervous. Hearing the sirens go off always gives me chill bumps. This storm could have been so much worse. With the warmer temps merging with the cooler temps this storm was bound to happen. We went to live coverage with Wayne Hart and your Weather Authority Forecast at 9:15am on Thursday, March 14th, 2019, and stayed with the coverage until the storms moved out of the listening area at 1:30pm. Once they moved out, I decided to assess the damage in town and talk to some area residents.

This is the corner of Fairview Drive and Old Hartford Road in Owensboro. Fairview was closed, but luckily I'm not shy and found a way into the neighbors backyard to share a photo of the damage. There was a tree down over Fairview Drive and a downed power line. I talked to the neighbor and she had no power like most of her neighborhood.

Then I drove to the east side of town for a report of a tree on someone's home. There were many officers on the roadways because of power outages and traffic lights inoperable.

Luckily, Schuyler Powell and his family weren't home when the storm rolled through today. His home on Settles Rd. was a direct hit, in the name of a big tree. Powell said Demon and Jersey, his two dogs were home, are safe, but shook up. It had to be scary for those two pups. The dining room took the biggest hit, but a tree company has already been there, insurance company has been contacted and he's not worried. We're happy that Demon, Jersey and the Powell family are safe today!

Then, it was off to Locust Hill Drive to make sure our fellow neighbor was okay. Raymond Witee and his wife weren't home. He was such a sweet man and I was just happy they were okay. Their precious kitty was at the vet having surgery and wasn't home. Raymond already has a tree service coming and insurance is already contacted. Here's wishing the family well and that kitty makes a speedy recovery.

A couple of trees are down at Legion Park in Owensboro. Is it just me, or does this tree trunk look like an alligator's mouth?!

I think we can all feel lucky that the storm wasn't worse than it was. I hope everyone is safe with minimal damage. I was outside bringing you storm coverage on the WBKR Facebook Page. Here's a look at the storm rolling into the Owensboro area. Excuse the video footage. It was a tad windy and hard to keep the phone steady! It's Facebook Live so that's why you'll hear me talking with people during the footage. Enjoy!
