Owensboro Man, a DCHS Grad, in Israel on Major Archaeological Dig [VIDEO]

32-year-old Brad Erickson and I have a couple of things in common. We're both from Owensboro and we both graduated from Daviess County High School. And, unless he likes barbecue potato chips on his ham sandwiches, that's where the comparisons end.

Much as I would LOVE it, I have never been on an archaeological dig. And I've certainly never been on one in ISRAEL.

That's where Brad is now and what he's working on is incredibly cool.

Now, there's a lot of scientific language in what I'm about to say, but even I get it, so you should have no trouble.

This just blows my mind.

According to the University of North Carolina Media Hub, Brad--a UNC student working on his ancient Mediterranean religions doctorate--is "incorporating 3-D virtual modeling in his archaeological research to aid in the visualization of ancient synagogues."

I found part of an arrowhead in New Mexico one time and was celebratory.

Clearly, that ain't this.

To be able to take your discoveries and form 3D imagery into virtual reality that re-creates ancient mosaics and structures and the like boggles the mind.

Absolutely amazing!
