Even though we are only two months into the year, it is time to start thinking about the next school year! If you have children that will be starting kindergarten or preschool in the Owensboro School District, the time is drawing near to register them for their school.

Owensboro Public Schools will hold kindergarten and preschool registration from March 4th through the 15th. Registration will be held at the school your child will attend. If you need information about which school you child will attend you can call 686-1000.

Here is a little more information on preschool and kindergarten registration from an news release from OPS:

Kindergarten registration is available to children who will be 5 years old by Oct. 1, 2013. Kindergarten is a full-day program Monday through Friday. Students who are currently attending Hager Preschool will register at the school they will attend in the fall.

Preschool registration: Hager Preschool will begin accepting applications March 4-15 for the 2013-14 state-funded KERA preschool/Head Start program. Preschool is available free of charge to children who will be 3 or 4 years old by Oct. 1, 2013, AND whose families meet income eligibility guidelines. You can find enrollment forms by clicking here, and they will also be available at the schools the days of registration. You will need to bring a few things with you to register your child, including: the child’s original birth certificate, the child’s Social Security card, and the following medical forms on a Kentucky form only: physical examination record, immunization certificate, vision examination performed by an eye doctor and a dental screening/exam completed after the child’s 5th birthday.
