Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, We are Down to Only One Restaurant Left in KY
My friend Teresa recently re-shared a Facebook post she made back in 2022. It said, "We stop at Ruby Tuesday when we head from Nashville. Who thinks we need one back in Owensboro?"
WHERE WAS THE RUBY TUESDAY IN OWENSBORO, KY?
Me! Me! Me! When I was a teenager, the Ruby Tuesday location inside Owensboro's Towne Square Mall was the weekly hangout for me and my friends. That was a our Friday night ritual.
We'd go have dinner at Ruby Tuesday, then zip across Frederica Street for a late movie at the Malco. That was how I spent nearly every weekend of my junior and senior years of high school.
Circling back to Teresa's comment, the last time I ate at a Ruby Tuesday was, indeed, in Nashville. There used to be location across I-40 from the Nashville International Airport. We were flying out for a December vacation and decided to eat at the Ruby Tuesday on Donelson Pike. It immediately brought back memories!
A couple of years ago, I wrote another story about Ruby Tuesday. Like I said, the restaurant was a staple here in Owensboro for years and it defined a very formative part of my life.
ARE THERE ANY RUBY TUESDAY LOCATIONS IN KENTUCKY?
As you can see by the title of that story, at the time there were two locations left here in the Commonwealth. Well, my friends, I am sorry to say it. We're now down to just one. The Bowling Green location has closed.
The Elizabethtown location, the lone holdout, is the final Ruby Tuesday standing and serving in the state. It's located at 201 Commerce Drive.
