I wonder how many folks reading this actually DO NOT like potatoes in any shape, fashion, or form. I bet it's zero.

I have never met anyone who doesn't. I honestly can't imagine why you wouldn't love perhaps the most versatile vegetable on the planet. I only have one problem with potatoes...I can't peel them. But I love them with the skins on, so that's a win. And no, it's not because I don't know how to peel them.

Now I'm getting hungry.

POTATOES N' SUCH: THE DAYTON POTATO FESTIVAL

I should seriously think about planning a jaunt to Potatoes N' Such, a big potato festival in Dayton, Ohio this summer. We're always looking for different things to do when it comes to road trips, and being surrounded by an enormous variety of potato dishes sounds like the BEST kind of different.

Now, here's what I love. You know how at the Barbecue Festival, we get all kinds of vendors with unusual offerings in addition to all the great barbecue? Well, at Potatoes N' Such, the rules state that you must have at LEAST one item on your menu that qualifies as a "potato entree." So I'm guessing that throwing French fries in as a side doesn't really count. You'd get the "too easy" stamp and then the stink eye, most likely.

SWEET POTATO POUND CAKE

Oh the possibilities. Like, sweet potato pound cake for example.

A HUGE VARIETY OF FRIES

Or maybe an enormous selection of fries. (This brings tears to my eyes, joy to my heart, and saliva into my mouth.)

ARE THEY JUST CALLED POTATOES ON A SKEWER?

Then there are these things. I've had them before but cannot remember what they're called, for the life of me. Maybe they're just potatoes on a skewer.

THERE'S A BAKED POTATO HIDDEN AMONG THE BARBECUE

This thing counts. You can't see it, but there's a baked potato under there somewhere. And it's just a serving boat.

CHICKEN AND SWEET POTATO WAFFLE...I MAY JUST PASS OUT

Do you know what this is? It is a chicken and sweet potato waffle, and right now I want to drive to Dayton and camp out until August so I make sure I don't miss out. Good Lord.

THEY'RE CALLED STREET POTATOES

Okay, so they're NOT potatoes on a skewer. They're STREET potatoes. Uh, I'll take six. Thank you.

LATE SUMMER AND ALL THE POTATOES YOU CAN HANDLE

Bring me all the potatoes you got. Actually, wait. You don't have to do that. I'll just drive to Dayton this summer (honestly I may be driving right PAST Dayton this summer) and scoop up all those amazing potato concoctions myself. Sounds like heaven.

The Potatoes N' Such Dayton Potato Festival is Saturday, August 13th.

Hey Jimmy Buffett, you can have your cheeseburger in paradise. I'll take scalloped potatoes all day long.
