Layla Spring, who hails from Marion County, Kentucky, continues to impress the judges and the nation on the latest season of American Idol.  The former WBKR Battle for the Big O finalist has powered her way into the show's Top 24.  Last night, she took the stage and belted out Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing."  Watch!

She did it!!  Layla Spring, who is from Marion County, Kentucky, has made it to the Top 12 girls on American Idol!  Here at WBKR, we have known Layla for a couple of years now and are not surprised at all that she has powered her way onto the show.

A couple of years ago, Layla Spring showed up at the Owensboro Convention Center to audition for WBKR's Battle for the Big O competition.  She stepped to the mic and belted out one of the best versions of "Folsom Prison Blues" I have ever heard.  She qualified for the Battle finale and sang her way into the 2016 Top Five!  And, now, Layla is moving on to a bigger stage!  The Marion Count

History was made Saturday night at Diamond Lake's Good Time Theatre!  For the first time in the eight-year history of the event, a female grand champion was crowned.  And here's video of the big reveal . . . when Morgan Book of Henderson, Kentucky was named the winner of the contest!

The 2017 Battle for the Big O Finale is Saturday, June 24th at Diamond Lake Campground and Resort.  And tickets are on sale NOW for what promises to be an amazing night of entertainment showcasing some of the best undiscovered talent in the region!  We have 12 amazing acts set to take the stage and battle it out for $1,000 and the right to open for Cole Swindell, Colt Ford, Dylan Scott, Tucker Bea

Over the weekend at the Owensboro Regional Farmer's Market, we hosted our third audition for the 2017 Battle for The Big O.  Three acts wowed the judges and battled with way into our finale event, which is coming up Saturday, June 24th at Diamond Lake Campground & Resort.  One of them- Adam Scott of Horse Branch, Kentucky!  Adam is a singer-songwriter and he won Saturday's audition to advance.

Last Thursday at Fetta Specialty Pizza in downtown Owensboro, we hosted our second night of auditions for the 2017 Battle for The Big O.  The talent was terrific and our judges had their work cut out for them.  Three acts eventually were passed on to our finale event, which is coming up Saturday, June 24th at Diamond Lake Campground & Resort.  One of them- Adriana Domenica from Nashville, TN!
