The vote is in and starting July 1st, 2017 Owensboro residents will see higher taxes as the Owensboro City Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the annual budget for 2017-2018.

After last weeks final budget announcement, it's plain to see that Owensboro is on the brink of the largest tax increase we've ever seen. In an urgent statement released today, the Owensboro Chamber Board Chair and Advocacy Chair laid out a budget plan for the Mayor and Commissioners to consider.

Cuts in community programs have already been announced and now Mayor Tom Watson says there's really no way around a tax increase for Owensboro residents. Brad Byrd sat down with Mayor Watson to discuss our future.
