Move over, Magnificent Seven!  Make way for the Fab Five!!  For the first time since 1996, Team USA has won the team gold in Women's Gymnastics at the Olympics!  And, in London just moments ago, they did by putting an absolute smackdown on the competition!  Four years ago in Beijing, the U.S. Women were outperformed by a controversially young Chinese team.  This Olympics, there was no controversy at all . . . just the gymnastics equivalent of a knockout!  They won by 5.066 points.  That is UNHEARD of!!!  Here's how it played out . . .

Heading into the final rotation, the competition was pretty tight between the U.S. and Russia, but the Russians had a disastrous floor exercise competition.  The U.S. went into the apparatus knowing they just had to hit what they had planned and prepared for.  And, boy, did they!  Gabby Douglas led off with a 15.066.  Then Jordyn Wieber, who brushed aside the disappointment of not qualifying for the individual all-around to gun for team gold, delivered a 15.00.  All Aly Raisman had to do in her routine was simply score 10 points.  But she went out blasting and nailed down a 15.3.

Team USA wins GOLD!!  Russia crumbled to second.  Romania was 3rd.  And the Chinese settled for fourth.  No controversy this Olympic games.  Just a resounding message to the world that the United States is home to the best female gymnasts on the planet!  And they have gold to prove it.

And Team USA isn't finished yet.  Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman are medal favorites Thursday in the all-around and Americans qualified for finals in each individual apparatus!
