Breaking news this afternoon!  The team formerly known as the Evansville IceMen will be moving to Owensboro!

According to an announcement made today by Mayor Ron Payne, the City will be selling and the IceMen will be purchasing the Owensboro Sportscenter for $1 and will work to expand seating inside the arena to 7200 seats.  The estimated investment the team will be making in the facility is between $4 million to $6 million.

The Icemen were recently involved in tumultuous negotiations with the City of Evansville and the amount of money they were paying to play inside The Ford Center.  Team owner Ron Geary pursued other options and has, according to Payne, chosen to move the team to Owensboro!

The move and deal must be approved the ECHL, the league in which the IceMen compete.
