There’s a Really Fun ‘Disco’ Cruise Hitting the High Seas in 2023
I am a child of the 70s and, like a lot of kids in era, I was completely obsessed with disco. My elementary school, Thruston Elementary in Owensboro, KY, had an epic Fall Festival each year. A centerpiece of that annual event was the disco! Each festival, Mr. Melhiser's music room was converted into a big student dance and a disco ball would spin in the middle of the room. It was awesome and, to this day, I remember dancing with my friends to "MacArthur Park" by Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco!
Though disco officially "died" in the early 80s, I am still obsessed with it. Some of my favorite songs of all-time were HUGE disco hits. I mean, throw a dart any Donna Summer song. Then, throw in the great Gloria Gaynor anthem "I Will Survive." Sprinkle in Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You" and "I Want Your Love" by Chic. That's just my starter kit. I love, love, love disco.
That's precisely why this 2023 cruise caught my attention. The Ultimate Disco Cruise is setting sail from Miami, Florida on February 25th and porting in Key West and Cozumel. And all kinds of disco stars are climbing on board the Celebrity Summit to go along for the ride and perform.
I've cruised with Celebrity before. The ships, food and entertainment are top notch.
Of course, the true highlight of the Ultimate Disco Cruise will be the on-board entertainment.
Here's a look at some of the big names of disco and dance that have signed on to sail!
