Owensboro, KY! The Clowns are Coming! Lots of Them!

If there is any chance that you are coulrophobic, you may want to pack a suitcase and bolt of town in a few weeks. Why? Because, well, the clowns are coming!  I repeat. The clowns are coming.

Yes! Coulrophobia is the fear of clowns and the Universal Clown Summit & Reunion  will likely put that fear to the test early next month when it's held here in Owensboro, Kentucky. The annual 3-day+ event will be held September 4th through the 7th at the Owensboro Convention Center downtown.

The fun kicks off Wednesday with a small welcome reception at the Fairfield Inn & Suites on Frederica Street. Then, the clowns are heading over to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. So, if you walk into Texas Roadhouse and wonder where in the heck all the clowns came from . . .

The Universal Clown Summit & Reunion is a 3+ day annual gathering of clowns to learn, grow and evolve together. This year's summit features some huge names in the industry who'll be leading classes and seminars that cover make-up, balloons, joke writing and more.

This year's team of instructors include comedian Norm Barnhart, who was named America's Funniest Magician back in 2007 in Las Vegas.

Bob "Mr. Puppet" Abdou will be in town too.

According to Visit Owensboro's Dave Kirk, there will be a few dozen clowns in town for the convention. They are traveling here from Minnesota, Oregon, South Carolina, Canada and, possibly, India!

One fun sight to be on the lookout for is this. You've likely heard of a clown car. Well, they're going to be upgrading a bit. During the Universal Clown Summit, Owensboro's trolley will be transporting the attending clowns around town. You've probably seen how many clowns you can fit into a single car. Just imagine how many you can get onboard our trolley!

Get ready, Owensboro! It's nearly time to send in the clowns.
