If you're like me, you like eating out at restaurants, but don't always want to physically go out and do it.  Well, there's good news.  That restaurant food can come to you.  WAITR, an app-based food delivery and carryout service is coming to Owensboro this summer!

I was broadcasting live from the Dugout Diner on Thursday and happened to run into Brian Pigman, who is the Business Development Manager for WAITR.  He had stopped by Dugout because my friends, Billy and Brittany, signed their diner on as one of twenty-four local restaurants who have already agreed to participate in the service.  That number, by the way, is expected to grow . . . quickly.

WAITR, which originated in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is set to launch in Owensboro on June 24th.  It's already established in 22 states around the country and recently launched in Evansville, where over 50 restaurants are currently participating.

How it works is simple.  Customers can order directly from restaurants using the WAITR app.  They can choose from two options: carryout or delivery.  If customers choose delivery, a Waitr driver will deliver the food to your home or office.  And their goal . . . from the time the order is placed to the time it's delivered to your door . . . is to get that order to you within one hour.

In addition to launching the app here in Owensboro, WAITR also plans to bring about 50 jobs to the area.  If you'd like to apply to be a driver, you can visit them online by CLICKING HERE!  Full-time drivers are eligible for benefits like health insurance, etc.  And, according to Brian Pigman, successful drivers can expect to earn between $17 and $20 per hour (including tips).

If you are interested in using the WAITR app as a customer, it is already available for download for your iPhone or Android.

So far locally, these are the restaurants who will featured on the WAITR app: Salsarita's, Y-Not Pizza & Wings, Lee's Famous Recipe (both locations), Pan Asian, The Spot Coffee & Finery, Gangnam Korean BBQ, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wheatgrass Juice Bar, Fiyah Wings, Beef O'Brady's, Chopstix, PizzAroma, The Oven, Lure Seafood & Grille, McAlister's Deli (coming soon), Popeye's, Dee's Diner, and Shogun Express.

If you are a restaurant owner who wants to be involved with the service, you can contact Brian Pigman at 812-760-8084.
