If You’ve Ever Wanted to See ‘Waitress: The Musical’, You Can Catch It on the Big Screen in KY and IN
It’s the musical that gave us the heart-wrenching 11th hour power ballad, “She Used to Be Mine.” I had the pleasure of seeing the show on Broadway with the original 'Jenna'. Jessie Mueller, as expected, absolutely tore out the audience's hearts with her performance.
I had seen the movie the musical was based on and was a marginal fan of that. Remember this- from way back in 2007?
I didn’t know what to expect with the musical stage adaptation, but was pleasantly surprised at how funny and moving it was and how terrific Sara Bareilles’ score was. Honestly, I liked the movie. I LOVED the musical.
After Jessie Mueller left the show, a variety of actresses tackled the role- from American Idol alumns Katherine McPhee and Jordin Sparks, to Broadway belter Shoshana Bean to Sara Bareilles herself. In fact, the version with Sara was filmed and is now making to cinemas around the country, including several here in the Tristate area.
