Here’s Why I’m Excited For The 2024 Owensboro Comic & Toy Con This Weekend

This weekend, the Owensboro Convention Center will welcome the coolest people in town for two days of pop culture awesomeness. All things movies, television, and of course, comics and toys. A huge dose of nostalgia and celebrating the creativity of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

Last year was an incredible time! It was a blast running into friends and chatting about our favorite fandoms or cool vintage toy finds. I got to meet an artist, Guy Gilchrist, who played a huge part in developing some of my favorite characters of all time, The Muppets!

A highlight was certainly Tom Kenny, the voice of Spongebob, as the line of folks to meet him stayed wrapped around the entire room. Saturday night of the convention, he performed a concert for everyone on the pier! It was AMAZING.

Owensboro Comic & Toy Convention 2024 Schedule

Folks always get most excited about meeting special guests and shopping with vendors, but my family loves the events scheduled for the Owensboro Comic & Toy Convention. Q&A sessions so you can ask your favorite celeb questions you've always wondered about.

A game room full of table games, old-school and new-school console games, and more! I could barely pry my son away from the pinball machines.

Here's the line-up for Saturday and Sunday.

Owensboro Comic & Toy Con Vendors

If you have a pop culture fan or collector in your family, you could literally get all of your Christmas shopping done at this event. Or just treat yourself to a nostalgic blast from the past. The vendor booths range from collectible toys to action figures, plushies, and merchandise from brand-new shows and movies. I bought a purse made from an old VHS tape case! It's the coolest thing I own. Posters, swords and light sabers, plus rows and rows of comics to flip through. It's worth the price of admission just to walk around and look at all of the treasures. Owensboro Comic & Toy Convention Cosplay

One of my favorite aspects of a convention is seeing all of the awesome cosplayers walking around. It's impressive how some of these creative people look EXACTLY like the characters they are portraying. Last year, my friend Heather and I had fun dressing up as April O'Neil and Michaelangelo. You can come in costume just for fun or enter one of the Cosplay contests to try for a prize!

It's hard to watch this video from last year and not get pumped for another weekend of fun! I sure hope the DJ comes back. She kept the party going the whole time!
