Saturday marks the 2nd annual Kentucky Run for the Fallen, a 55-mile event that honors and remembers Kentucky military service members who died as a result of serving during the War on Terror.
The run takes place at Panther Creek Park just outside of Owensboro and utilizes a 2-mile loop for the event.  This year's Run for the Fallen is a one-day run starting at 7am and wrapping up at 5pm.  Participants can come and run as much as they want to show their solidarity and support.
During the event, runners will stop at established "Hero Markers" where they will announce the names of over 250 fallen Kentucky heroes.  Plus, there will be several Gold Star families on hand for the event to have their loved ones recognized at designated mile markers.
This event is staged by the Kentucky chapter of Honor and Remember and Kentucky Run for the Fallen (KYRFTF).  Both are committed to remaining "vigilant, focused and dedicated" to the mission of remembrance.  However, they also understand the precautions required this year by COVID-19.  They have committed to ensuring proper COVID-19 protocols and social distancing guidelines.
