Loretta Lynn’s Ranch Is Calling You to West Tennessee for a Fall Getaway [VIDEOS]
I have visited 45 states, but it seems I'm constantly telling you there's THIS thing I haven't done or THAT thing I haven't done. There's so much to DO.
That includes cool places to visit right here in my home state of Kentucky. For example, while I've had family members visit Loretta Lynn's childhood home, I've never been there and would like to go.
LORETTA LYNN'S RANCH IS CALLING
You know what, though? I could save myself the gas and money and travel a little over HALF that distance and visit the country music icon's CURRENT home.
Hurricane Mills is a little more than 160 miles from my front door. No, I don't know her. It's not like I'm gonna walk up and knock on her door and we're going to have lunch. Although, by all accounts, she's one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet and she might not mind.
But since I don't want any run-ins with Hurricane Mills security, I'll just follow all other visitors' leads and maybe enjoy a fall getaway. First, let's take a virtual tour of Loretta Lynn's Ranch.
TAKE A TOUR OF LORETTA LYNN'S HURRICANE MILLS HOME
While her childhood home in Van Lear, Kentucky is absolutely worthy of a visit, it's her ranch and estate in Tennessee where buildings used during the making of the Oscar-winning Coal Miner's Daughter were set up for tourism purposes--complete with a replica OF that Butcher Holler home.

LORETTA LYNN'S TRAIL RIDE SOUNDS LIKE AN AWESOME FALL GETAWAY
And if you think her 3,000-acre spread would be perfect for horseback riding, you'd be right. Every fall, Loretta Lynn's Ranch hosts the Trail Ride--featuring hayrides, the extreme trail ride competition, scavenger hunts, shows, and so much more. It lasts five days. You will need to bring your own horse.
...BUT SO DOES THE YAMAHA XT-REME TERRAIN CHALLENGE
Now, if you prefer four WHEELS over four LEGS, the Yamaha XT-Reme Terrain Challenge is on the schedule for fall, but it has not yet been assigned a date. But you can check out the 2019 event.
ANYONE UP FOR A CHUCKWAGON RACE?
Now, as far as I'm concerned, THIS is the pinnacle of fall fun at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. It's the annual Fall Chuckwagon Races October 24-30. Seriously, doesn't this look like a BLAST?
I love Tennessee. And I love the history Loretta Lynn has given to country music.
There's so much to soak in at Loretta Lynn's Ranch, and it looks like the perfect autumn destination.
