Okay, so from Halloween on through New Year's, I eat a lot, we all do. My trip to New York was filled with lots of carbs and I was a very happy camper, er, traveler. However, there was one glaring error.

THERE'S NO SWEET TEA! I mean in the sense of, they don't have sweet tea in restaurants or fast food joints. What was a Kentucky girl to do? I have to give at least a couple of places props for trying; but they didn't stir the sugar up, they let it sink to the bottom (smack my head emoji). I think the saying is "once you go north of the Ohio River, there's no sweet tea".

On the other hand, I was introduced to a classic Italian delicacy, the tomato pie.

I know what you're thinking, it's just pizza. It's not, it's more like a pizza without the layer(s) of mozzarella cheese. It is divine. The sauce is a little sweet, there's some parmesan cheese on top. Visually, with all that sauce it reminds me of the Sicilian pizza at Noble Roman's. The crust in New York is strictly hand-tossed. I did have regular pizza the first night we got there and it was made by a little old Italian couple. It was so good! I'll miss tomato pie the most.
