Adam Sandler Hangs With the Wildcats and Coach Pope at Kentucky Practice
I'm a college basketball fan, and I don't just want Kentucky teams. I love the sport and will spend an entire rainy Saturday glued to the screen, flipping back and forth from one channel to another. Never a dull moment.
Because of how many games I watch, I've become familiar with famous members of select fan bases. Actress Ashley Judd, for example, graduated from the University of Kentucky and is, thus, a Wildcat fan. I haven't seen her recently, but she used to make frequent appearances at games. On the flip side, I've seen Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native, at plenty of Cardinals games over the years. Then you have Will Ferrell and USC, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Northwestern, and so on.
Enter Adam Sandler. Actually, he did enter the University of Kentucky practice facility yesterday to watch the 'Cats work out.
Sandler's a big basketball fan, but this does seem pretty random...except that it isn't. Sandler was in Lexington for a show at Rupp Arena Thursday night, alongside good friends and fellow comics Kevin Nealon and Kevin James.
Sandler even wore the jersey, gifted to him by Coach Mark Pope and the team, when he was on stage.
Sandler also took time to visit the UK women's team.
The Kentucky Wildcats are ranked ninth in the Associated Press pre-season college basketball poll. They'll kick off the regular season November 4th against Nicholls. The women's team is ranked 24th in the pre-season poll and will face Morehead State in their November 3rd. opener.
