Officials in Lexington are requesting that any and all who have visited legendary Rupp Arena for any reason share their memories as the legendary sports facility prepares for renovation.

Rupp Arena opened in 1976 and its obvious primary use has been as the home court for the Kentucky Wildcats. But it's also played host to many concerts, graduation ceremonies, and other events.

The mayor of Lexington, Jim Gray, is asking for anyone who'd like to share their memories please do so via social media or email.

Comments shared will be used in discussions about the arena's future during any upcoming public meetings.

Although the overhaul still seems to be in the "consideration" phase, an architectural firm out of Seattle--NBBJ--has been hired to outline the renovation design, and the Hunt Construction Group from Indianapolis--the company that built Rupp--will take care of the actual renovation.

You can share your Rupp Arena memories at https://www.facebook.com/RuppDistrict, Twitter (@RuppDistrict) or e-mail (info@ruppdistrict.com).
