Probably like many of you, when I was a child, I used to tag along with my mom while she shopped at department stores. We would spend what felt like hours in Lazarus, JC Penney, and my personal favorite, Bacon's at Town Square Mall.

It was a different time back in the early 90s, so my mom had no problem with me wandering away from her. To occupy myself, I would pretend I was the main character in one of my favorite books, Harriett the Spy. I would hide in the center of those circle racks of clothes and listen to conversations or people-watch.

A Parent's Worst Nightmare

Now that I am a parent myself, I can only imagine the panic she felt when she couldn't find me. What if I had been snatched from the store? Now, they probably would have brought me back after hours of little MK singing the CATS musical soundtrack, but still, that is a parent's worst nightmare.

Airtag Shoe Insoles Keep Kids Safe

You never know what might happen even if you are a helicopter parent. Kids get curious and can leave your sight in a flash. I recently found a really cool product that will give you peace of mind and let your kiddo have some independence. It's a shoe insole with a hidden Airtag holder. If you're not familiar with Airtags, they are an Apple product that allows you to use the Find My App on your phone or device. GPS will locate wherever the Airtag is.

Of course, you'll need to purchase the Airtag separately if you don't already have one, but these insoles can be trimmed to fit inside any kind of shoe.  They are thin enough to slide right in and the wearer won't even know it's there. You check out different brands on Amazon, but here is a link to the one introduced to me by creator Victoriasway. She has shared a video of how they work.

Here is one of the many Amazon reviews from satisfied customers: "Wow! This product is just perfect! My daughter with sensory sensitivities doesn’t even realize it’s in it. It is very easy to cut to the right size. The insert is very comfortable. So far it has lasted through multiple washes. Perfect place to hide AirTag."

Keeping Track of Loved Ones Who May Get Lost

I know the main focus here has been keeping children safe, but these would also be great for anyone you want to be able to keep tabs on. Maybe an aging parent who is living independently, but you're worried about them getting lost. Or an older child who is non-verbal.

I hope this little hack help ease any anxiety you may have about keeping track of your kiddo or loved ones. It's inexpensive, easy and the peace of mind is priceless.
