It's sad that global pandemic times are no different when it comes to scammers trying to take advantage of the public. The Green River District Health Department is warning of a new contact tracing scam that's circulating.

Normally, contact tracing is a process when you determine whom you've come in contact with if you believe you have been exposed or infected with COVID-19. The information is important when determining community spread.

The scammers/callers that are pretending to be contact tracers are asking for your Medicare number or financial information. Never give out your personal information and report the call immediately to Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE or 1-800-633-4227.

And as always, never answer a call from a number you don't recognize.
