At the beginning of February, the temperature soared to 72 degrees, and it was a nice day. Typically, when the gauge moves into the 70s during the winter, we're in for trouble. But not that day. It was amazing. And I swore to myself I would NOT indulge in spring fever; it was far too early.

Looks like I was right. Winter got right back into business after that outlier, and now it is no longer too early to contract spring fever. I've "come down with it" multiple times in the past week. But nothing will get me into wanting warmer weather to arrive--and soon--than thinking about some of my favorite nature spots. I'm mainly talking about the various state parks Kentucky is so good at, but I'll take anything with reasonable access.

Copperas Falls

With that in mind, let me tempt you with one of Kentucky's most beautiful waterfalls. It's called Copperas Falls, and I had no trouble find images of it on social media. Its many fans have been happy to share its beauty. By the way, it's at Red River Gorge.

It's just a stream, but it's one of the most photographed falls in the Commonwealth. And while I've been hammering home the arrival of spring, I have to say that Copperas Falls is also pretty spectacular in the winter.

Copperas Falls is located in tiny Valeria KY, and as inviting as it looks, there are guidelines you'll need to follow should you visit. You can find those at alltrails.com. Have fun.

You Might Be From Kentucky If...

I'm sure there can be 50 versions of this concept, but we'll let the other 49 states deal with their own. We're here for the Bluegrass State.
